WHAT TO EXPECT:

The Free State Province is situated in the centre of South Africa.

It has Vast open plains with abundant water. It has become the

primary crop producing area of the country, thus creating the

perfect habitat for a variety of fantastic game birds.

The Free State boast the widest variety of Gamebird species with

three partridge species, two spurfowl species, helmeted guinea

fowl and the extremely challenging rock pigeon. 

​

All these species offer their own challenges and ensure for an

enjoyable pursuit. The  highlight of the Free State is the high volume

rock pigeon shooting. The rockie is one of the fastest game birds

Africa has to offer, flying low over the sunflower fields and darting

every direction at over 80km/hour.

 

It is easily one of the most sporting birds to pursue. This shooting

provides two styles of shooting: low instinctive shooting in the

morning session as they come into the fields and a challenging high

bird session in the evening as the exit the fields to roost.
