THE AFRICAN ROCK PIGEON (A ROCKIE).

The rockie is one of the fastest flying game birds Africa has to offer: flying low over the sunflower fields, darting in every direction, easily one of the most sporting birds to pursue! The birds are shot between 6am and 9am in the morning, then again from 3 pm to 6pm in the afternoon. The morning providing instinctive low shooting and the afternoon providing a challenging high bird experience as they leave the fields to roost. Both making for some excellent sport!

UPLAND SHOOTING

Limpopo province is situated in the northernmost part of South Africa, bordering both Zimbabwe and Mozambique. The Limpopo is the heart of South Africa’s bushveld with its beautiful sunsets and abundant wildlife. Limpopo is home to some truly beautiful gamebird species such as the crested and coqui francolin, natal and swainson's spurfowl and helmeted guineafowl. The bushveld provides a perfect habitat for driven guineafowl shooting while walked up spurfowl and francolin are just as exciting. The spurfowl are tight holding, late flushing birds, often bursting from right under one’s feet which always gets the heart racing. The crested francolin on the other hand live in thick bush and when flushed dart low under the trees, providing very instinctive and rewarding shooting.
